input, this will promote the discussion and also information exchange of gender
based violence. COMMUNITY: social media platforms enable for the speedy
information and efficient communication of communities. Communities often have
shared goals, like ending violence against women, public relation practitioners
can use hashtags to gain momentum.

Public relations practitioners cannot
control what people put on social media. In social media platforms that has no
rules nor limitations such as Twitter people can write whatever they want,
everyone can have an opinion and sometimes that means that perpetrators can
humiliate the victims or survivors of gender based violence. The media can have
a big impact on whether social norms and behaviors that support violence
against women are upheld or challenged. With everyday hypersexualized, one-dimensional
pictures of women and girls with visible violence, new media can serve as a
platform for the exploitation of women and girls. Shocking right?! The kind of
power social media has, it can make or break you.
Recommendations for public relations practitioners in regards to dealing with #gender based violence.
PR agencies can set up events
where performing arts can take place. People need to comprehend that gender
based violence does not affect one group of people or demography. This kind of
events will showcase how gender based violence originates from any place. Public relations teams can support organizations
that are in motion. In this aspect, using a PR agency’s services can be quite
beneficial for publishing statements about these organization’s future events
and activities, writing pitch letters to possible sponsors.
